Accidents Increase 13% in NSW After Installing Cameras

A recent article in the Central Coast Express Advocate in NSW provided some alarming statistics. Councilor Doyle says:

“This is nothing but a revenue-raising exercise which will have no real impact on road safety,” Cr Doyle said. “A similar program in Victoria has seen no positive results – in fact the accident rate there has increased by 13 per cent since these unmarked speed cameras hit the streets.

“In fact there are likely to be more accidents, with motorists paying more attention to their speedometers than to road conditions.”

More evidence that speed cameras do NOT increase safety.

Very interesting to see these statistics starting to build in exactly the opposite direction as originally thought. Thanks for keeping the site current.
